I Used To Be Famous

PeanutButterFalcon.jpg

Follows Vince, a desperate former popstar who dreams of making a comeback. An impromptu jam session with autistic young drummer Stevie sparks an unexpected friendship between the two misunderstood musicians.

This movie out of England is the directorial debut for Eddie Sternberg based on his award-winning short film of the same name. I love movies that connect with audiences on an emotional level and this movie has a lot of heart. It had a realness to it, at least for me, and felt very authentic. I'm not familiar with any of the actors, but they did so well I didn't know if they were acting. The lead (Ed Skrein) was so talented with music and singing in the film that I looked up to see if he really was a famous musician (apparently he was a rapper). I also had to look up Leo Long to see if he was really an autistic drummer or not (he is, and plays more than the drums). If you want a good heartfelt movie, don't pass this one up!
