A kidnapped boy strikes up a friendship with his captor, an escaped convict on the run from the law, while the search for him continues.

Although directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Kevin Costner, this movie still fell under the radar of most. In addition to movies with unconventional father-figure types, I also put this movie in a similar category with convict period films like Shawshank Redemption and Murder in the First or contrasting duos on a road trip as in Green Book.
